Reflection: Today’s Gospel invites us to consider how we witness the healing presence of Christ in our care for and ministry to those who are sick. When we pray for those who are ill, we ask God to show his healing power. When health is restored, we share that good news with others. As you gather as a family, recall a time when a family member was ill. What steps were taken to help restore this family member to health? We continue to celebrate Jesus’ healing presence in our lives by giving thanks to God for the gift of healing and health. www.loyolapress.com/our-catholic-faith/liturgical-year/sunday-connection/23rd-sunday-in-ordinary-time-b-sunday-connection

Please Pray for the Sick: Donni Coakley, P J Tunney, Veronica Ugo, Lily Rahim, Patrick O’Reilly, Trisha Weldon, John Curry and Pat Hillman. Please also pray those who have died recently and all the Souls of the faithful departed.

Mass Intentions

As you can see above, there are some Masses this week with no intention. Each Mass is offered up for a particular person or prayer request. The Mass is the greatest collective prayer of the Church.

For Mass intentions please use the envelopes provided in Church.

Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC)

SPUC is urging people to send a postcard to the Home Secretary urging him not to recommend or promote legislation to outlaw peaceful pro-life vigils, which have helped many women to choose life for their unborn baby. The freedom to oppose abortion and offer help in public places is at risk. Postcards are available at the doors of the Church. For more information, please call SPUC on 020 7091 7091.

SCIE (Social Care Institute for Excellence)

Archbishop Bernard Longley has commissioned a review of our current safeguarding/child protection practices in light of the National Catholic Policies and Procedures. This review is to be welcomed as a means of ensuring that our systems to protect our children and young people are as effective as possible. This review is being conducted by an independent charity called SCIE (Social Care Institute for Excellence). As part of the review, SCIE would like to speak with any individuals who have experience of working with our parish safeguarding representatives and the safeguarding team at the Archdiocese. Anyone who is impacted by abuse issues can contact the safeguarding team on 0121 230 6240 (emergency out of hours 07976 516629).

If you are able to contribute to this important review and share your experiences with SCIE then please contact Hugh Constant (Hugh.Constant@scie.org.uk or 020 7766 7374 or 07872 602207).
