21st Sunday of Ordinary Time

Reflection: Have you a favorite scripture or a line from the gospels that you repeat at times of joy or sadness or when you feel you need some words to help you cope with what life has presented you with? The word of God is a personal gift, our favorite lines fill our hearts in time of prayer as we repeat them to ourselves.  His words can lead us into a quality of life which gives meaning, hope and love in all we do. Nobody else can give what Jesus gives – a full meaning of life, seen in the example of his life. Time with him is always time well spent. Love welcomes us to the companionship of Jesus. In the enjoyment and the challenge of such love, would we want to go elsewhere?

We Pray for the Sick: Donni Coakley, P J Tunney, Veronica Ugo, Lily Rahim, Patrick O’Reilly, Trisha Weldon John Curry and Pat Hillman.

Please Pray for the Souls of the recently departed: Nicholas Nelson, Carmel McCrann and Michael Dorris.

Our Lady’s birthday falls on the 8th September, but at St Catherine’s we will be celebrating an extra Sunday Mass on the 9th September at 5:30 pm. As part of Mass we shall crown the statue of Mary. Following Mass, there will be a Birthday Cake and some light refreshments. Please join us to celebrate this most special occasion.

Journey in Faith

Are you interested in learning more about your Faith?

Beginning Thursday 6th September at 7 pm in the Lady Chapel, there will be a weekly event to discuss the Catholic Faith. This program is aimed at people wishing to join the Catholic Church, but also to those Catholics who wish to learn more about their own Faith. Tea and Coffee provided. Anyone interested in attending, please speak to Fr Mario.

Baptismal Preparation Course

The next course will be held on Friday 21st of September and Friday 30th of November 2018; at 7 pm in the Lady Chapel. Before attending the course please complete and return a baptism preparation form available on the notice board in the church.

2018/19 Holy Communion and Reconciliation programme

For children attending non-Catholic schools and have register interest, the first meeting will be held on the 16th of Sept 2018, at 10:45 am in the Lady Chapel.  Please email your child’s details to the church office if you want your child to join.

Mass Intentions

Having a Mass offered up for a special intention is a very old Catholic tradition. It is a great way to pray for our dearly departed friends and family. It is also an excellent way to ask God to intercede in our prayer requests. If you would like to have a Mass offered for a special intention, please use the envelopes provided at the entrances to Church

Confessions and Rosary

Rosary in the Lady Chapel on Sundays at 10:30 am.

Confessions on Saturdays at 5 pm

SCIE (Social Care Institute for Excellence)

Archbishop Bernard Longley has commissioned a review of our current safeguarding/child protection practices in light of the National Catholic Policies and Procedures. This review is to be welcomed as a means of ensuring that our systems to protect our children and young people are as effective as possible. This review is being conducted by an independent charity called SCIE (Social Care Institute for Excellence). As part of the review, SCIE would like to speak with any individuals who have experience of working with our parish safeguarding representatives and the safeguarding team at the Archdiocese. Anyone who is impacted by abuse issues can contact the safeguarding team on 0121 230 6240 (emergency out of hours 07976 516629).

If you are able to contribute to this important review and share your experiences with SCIE then please contact Hugh Constant (Hugh.Constant@scie.org.uk or 020 7766 7374 or 07872 602207).
