25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Reflection: In true acts of love, the loved one is always at the center; the contentment in doing so is the joy that we experienced. According to Jesus all such acts are seen by God as a self-giving to God himself. Jesus came among us to show us how to love. He continued to show that love even on the cross. The tenderness of Jesus’ love for children is immense. As adults, we all have our inner child within us.  This part of us is vulnerable, sensitive, playful, open, a child that is still full of wonder. It is only through the wonder of our inner child that we can experience the glory and the greatness of God.

Please Pray for the Sick: Donni Coakley, P J Tunney, Veronica Ugo, Lily Rahim, Patrick O’Reilly, Trisha Weldon, John Curry and Pat Hillman. Please also pray those who have died recently and all the Souls of the faithful departed.

Journey in Faith

Are you interested in learning more about your Faith?

There will be a new group starting to learn more about the Catholic Faith. Anyone interested in attending, please speak to Fr Mario or write your contact details on the contact sheet at the doors of Church. All welcome, so feel free to invite others along.

Baptismal Preparation Course

The next course will be held on Friday 30th of November 2018; at 7 pm in the Lady Chapel. Before attending the course please complete and return a baptism preparation form available on the notice board in the church.

Mass Intentions

As you can see above, there are some Masses this week with no intention. Each Mass is offered up for a particular person or prayer request. The Mass is the greatest collective prayer of the Church.

For Mass intentions please use the envelopes provided in Church.

Tabor House, Birmingham’s permanent night shelter

Are you ready to give a hand? Tabor House has been open since September last year offering short term accommodation and support to people living on the street in Birmingham. We are looking for more volunteers to support the project. To find out more call Christy Acton on 07464 928691.

Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC)

SPUC is urging people to send a postcard to the Home Secretary urging him not to recommend or promote legislation to outlaw peaceful pro-life vigils, which have helped many women to choose life for their unborn baby. The freedom to oppose abortion and offer help in public places is at risk. Postcards are available at the doors of the Church. For more information, please call SPUC on 020 7091 7091.

SCIE (Social Care Institute for Excellence)

Archbishop Bernard Longley has commissioned a review of our current safeguarding/child protection practices in light of the National Catholic Policies and Procedures. This review is to be welcomed as a means of ensuring that our systems to protect our children and young people are as effective as possible. This review is being conducted by an independent charity called SCIE (Social Care Institute for Excellence). As part of the review, SCIE would like to speak with any individuals who have experience of working with our parish safeguarding representatives and the safeguarding team at the Archdiocese. Anyone who is impacted by abuse issues can contact the safeguarding team on 0121 230 6240 (emergency out of hours 07976 516629).

If you are able to contribute to this important review and share your experiences with SCIE then please contact Hugh Constant (Hugh.Constant@scie.org.uk or 020 7766 7374 or 07872 602207).
