27th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Reflection: God’s original plan for marriage was that of a man and woman ‘become one flesh’. This teaching is a call to each one of us to live out our own vocation in life as wholeheartedly as possible. Because of human weakness the ideal is not always totally achievable. In ‘Amoris Laetitia’, (The Joy of Love) Pope Francis invites Christian families “to be a sign of mercy and closeness wherever family life remains imperfect or lacks peace and joy”. He offers “an invitation to mercy and the pastoral discernment of those situations that fall short of what the Lord demands of us”
Mercy is the love which all of us need to experience, regardless of our life-history or track record. Love, is the ‘key’ to the Kingdom of God.
Please Pray for the Sick: Donni Coakley, P J Tunney, Veronica Ugo, Lily Rahim, Patrick O’Reilly, Trisha Weldon, John Curry and Pat Hillman. Please also pray those who have died recently and all the Souls of the faithful departed.

Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC)
SPUC is urging people to send a postcard to the Home Secretary urging him not to recommend or promote legislation to outlaw peaceful pro-life vigils, which have helped many women to choose life for their unborn baby. The freedom to oppose abortion and offer help in public places is at risk. Postcards are available at the doors of the Church. For more information, please call SPUC on 020 7091 7091. SCIE (Social Care Institute for Excellence) Archbishop Bernard Longley has commissioned a review of our current safeguarding/child protection practices in light of the National Catholic Policies and Procedures. This review is to be welcomed as a means of ensuring that our systems to protect our children and young people are as effective as possible. This review is being conducted by an independent charity called SCIE (Social Care Institute for Excellence). As part of the review, SCIE would like to speak with any individuals who have experience of working with our parish safeguarding representatives and the safeguarding team at the Archdiocese. Anyone who is impacted by abuse issues can contact the safeguarding team on 0121 230 6240 (emergency out of hours 07976 516629).
