13th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Reflection: Have you ever been in a crowd were you are oblivious of others around you? Or, have you felt alarmed or fearful in a crowd by someone who looks very ill. Do we try and move away? They may have a disease that is contagious. Or they can look different from us; we wonder if we are safe, people who live their lives differently to us can make us feel nervous.

Pope Francis is a person in today’s world who has the same healing effect on a crowd that Jesus had.  He responds to an ever changing world with deep compassion for all people. He is teaching us to see what Jesus sees. He speaks of mercy, and we lean in to hear more of what he is saying. As a result, we feel our fears put to rest, our spirits being healed and our faith encouraged. Let us pray that we can begin to see with eyes of mercy.

We Pray for the Sick: Nicholas Nelson, Donni Coakley, P J Tunney, and Carmel McCrann. Veronica Ugo, Lily Rahim, Patrick O’Reilly, Trisha Weldon and Pat Hillman.

A new Conference Hall for St Catherine’s parish

Our target is to raise £50 K over 5 years to fund the creation of a large conference hall in the presbytery with service kitchen.  There are many things we can use this space for – parish social events, charitable activities, private hire space. A second collection will be taken on the 1st of every month – please give generously and if possible gift aid your donation.  Please also consider setting up a regular donation by standing order.
